Do plants really grow stronger and healthier when spoken to?
That's just what a new social experiment from advertising agency Carmichael Lynch and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is putting to the test.
Called "Talk to a Plant", the experiment invites the entire Twitterverse to help test the myth that plants respond positively to speech.
Here's how it works: Go to talktoaplant.com. Send the plant a message. (Sign into Twitter if you're not already signed in). You can tweet whatever you like to the plant and a tweet-to-speech technology developed by Carmichael Lynch will then read your tweet aloud to one of the plants. The other plant, sits in silence.

CHICAGO — Who gets wetter, someone walking in the rain or running? Is it really possible to hang from a cliff by your fingers until help arrives like they do in the movies? And is Superman the only one who is faster than a speeding bullet?

The exhibit consists of about a dozen stations mixed in with props familiar to viewers, like the actual casket Hyneman lay in for a segment on being buried alive. In one station shaped like a ship cargo container, a visitor walks and another runs for 20 feet while water drips from hoses above. Once they're wet, they go around the corner and, because the water contains traces of fluorescent dye, they can see just how many drops hit them as they stand in front of a black light.

In the exhibit's world premiere at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, you'll immerse yourself in the MythBusters world from the beginning, entering through a giant corrugated shipping container vestibule in the trademark MythBusters colors: yellow and black. Caution tape, blueprints and files-along with real remnants from experiments on the show-accent the exhibit design. If you look above, you'll see the tail of an airplane-used to bust the online myth that a plane could be shredded with a chainsaw-emerging from one of the Museum's columns. Yes, it's confirmed: The MythBusters have been here.
